ODM leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday travelled to Taita Taveta Taveta County with the advice of peace, prosperity and support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) ahead of the proposed referendum.

Speaking to the residents during his stopovers at Bura, Mghange and Mwakishimba, Raila alluded to the bible, saying that the BBI is the ark that will ferry Kenyans to Canaan; the ideological land of milk and honey.

Odinga told the residents that the BBI will dispense the final blow to negative ethnicity while assuring that more funding flows at the grassroots level.

The former PM called for devolved services like health, water and agriculture to receive a higher funds allocation.

Raila also talked about the Ksh.316B being assigned to the 47 Counties saying is a relatively small amount, therefore the need for more funds allocation towards growth at the county level.

On matters of corruption, Odinga affirmed that any corrupt leader is an enemy of the people and should be viewed as such.

Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja who was flanking the ODM leader embraced the latter’s opinions and urged the locals to back the BBI initiative.

He promised to work with President Uhuru and Raila to oversee development projects in the county.
