DP William Ruto welcomes Raila Odinga to the hustler nation urging leaders to respect peoples' hustles

Deputy President William Ruto says leaders should discuss issues affecting Kenyans, saying the talk around the constitutional review should not dominate the present predicaments in the country.


The Deputy President addressed people during a prayer service at the Africa Inland Church in Ziwani where Reverend Joshua Kimuyu was inaugurated as the new presiding Bishop for A.I.C Nairobi Area.


He later addressed Gikomba residents during a stop-over at the populous market.

He was accompanied by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, MPs Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Goerge Theuri (Embakasi West), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), John Kiarie (Dagoretti South), Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango) among others.


Ruto added that the majority of Kenya’s population falls under the hustler nation, therefore the need to address the raft of issues affecting the common person(hustler).


“Let us now agree that the priority of Government would be adjusted to the needs of those without jobs, food, decent homes and struggling businesses.”

On constitutional reforms undertakings, Ruto said the locus should be on the helpless groups, adding that the issue of “sharing power and government positions would come later.”

At the same time, Ruto welcomed the decision by ODM leader Raila Odinga to recognise Kenya as a hustling nation.


“Now that the country is in agreement that Kenya is a hustling nation, leaders should respect the hustle of every single Kenyan,” he said.
