Thousands deferred coronavirus-spread concerns to mingle and dance freely at the Mama Ngina Drive alias Mombasa Waterfront on Sunday as Kenya marked the International World Tourism Day.

The event pulled Mombasa leaders led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Badi Twali (Jomvu) and Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki.

Also in attendance were Kenyan artists, street-food vendors and thrill-seekers happy to be in a public gathering for the first time since March.

The Tourism sector stakeholders praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for lifting COVID-19 constraints and allow Kenya to revert to the standard.

They displayed confidence with the number of people who flocked the event, saying it is time that the tourism business returns.

However, President Uhuru Kenyatta did not give directions on the re-opening of Schools, but the daily dusk-to-dawn curfew was extended and the closure of bars and pubs lifted.
