Mr Alinur Mohamed popularly known as ‘Somali Guy’, arrested in Nairobi on Sunday, 20th September distributing food in Kamukunji contrary to COVID-19 rules.

The Somali guy was reportedly seized by sleuths for holding meetings breaking the Covid-19 measures.

He had on Saturday and Sunday issued food to street families in Nairobi’s informal settlements alongside gospel artist Kevin Bahati.

“I have just been arrested while at the Kamukunji Grounds. I don’t know where they are taking me to,” he said earlier in the day.

The authority said Donating food without following the MOH guidelines was wrong. However, People were quicker to counter-attack with the ongoing rallies.

"Its would have sounded fair if those conducting political rallies are arrested too, "

"At least the Somali guy was doing some humanitarian act compared to these politicians giving empty promises, " a follower posted.

Now is it illegal to distribute food to the suffering Nairobians? What about the ones conducting rallies, are there social distance and places to wash hands together with sanitizers?

He was later released unconditionally.
