Juliet Samba, a mother of 6 who stays in a fig tree, asks well-wishers to house her family

 

 

Pictures couple and their six children living inside a tree stump seized the internet.


The pictures which went viral on social media networks conferred the woman and her children living in a forest, away from humanity and social facilities.


Juliet Samba, a mother of six, says they began living in the forest in Voi after falling out with their inlaws.


They could not find a house after being kicked out of their home.


Once in the forest, they found an enormous fig tree which was hollow on the inside, allowing them enough space for the family to squirm and fit in.


“We decided to start here, at the very bottom, people begin from the bottom, then they go up,” Ms Samba said.

The family has been residing in the forest for months, without anyone from the neighbouring villages finding out.


The middle-aged woman is seven months pregnant and has not been to any hospital for any check-up.


She explains that all her previous births have been through a caesarean section.


However, she’s now worried that if she goes into labour, she will have nowhere to get relief as there is no health facility nearby.


When locals finally found out, they were in shock, wondering how the family has lived there without a reliable water source or food.


Residents from Kirutai village visited the woman on Thursday with foodstuffs.
