Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana opens up pulp processing section of the Makueni Fruit Processing Plant.
Accompanied by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and European Union ambassador Simon Mordue, Governor Kibwana insisted that Ukambani region will completely change by 2022.
" I'm visiting Makueni Fruit Processing plant with Governor Kivutha Kibwana. It gives me great pleasure to see how #devolution is transforming the lives of Kenyans. The #MaFruits Cooperative can now go to buyers directly, avoiding the low prices offered by middlemen, " Ambassador Simon Mordue said.
" Makueni Fruit Processing Plant will soon open it's 'ready to drink' line. It has been quite a game-changer in reducing post-harvest losses by up to 40% and close to 40K farmers have benefited, " he added.
" The plant has today commenced pulping of tomatoes. In a month, we hope to start processing ready to drink juice from the plant as we seek to add value much of the fruit production in our county, " Governor Kibwana said while in a tour at the plant with the Europen Union convoy.
"The Makueni Fruit Processing Plant has today commenced pulping of tomatoes. This will guarantee its continuous production even when mangoes run out of season," Governor Kibwana added.
