graft whistleblower Godwins Agutu

A pandemic graft whistleblower Godwins Agutu arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers with two others asking a Ksh.2M bribe.

The three suspects; Godwins Otieno Agutu, Alex Mutua Mutuku and Ken Gichovi Kimathi reportedly kidnapped the Director of Hi-tech Enterprise while insisting that they were a multi-agency team from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and KRA.

They asked a Ksh.2M bribe to kill a claimed tax evasion case concerning a victim who is already in police watch.

The suspects used two Toyota Prados Reg. Nos. GKB 070B and KCY 280Q, to assail the victim’s office on September 26 where they pulled his laptop and left.

The suspects emerged again on September 29 and asked the Ksh. 2M bribe; records indicate that when the victim was unable to raise the amount, they pushed him into the GKB vehicle and drove off to Lutheran House along Nyerere road.

The victim pushed and forced to contact his family members to get the amount but only succeeded to raise Ksh.500,000.

The suspects then accompanied him to his house in Westlands, where they took the cash.

Detectives say they arrested the three at Lutheran House and discovered that the GKB 070B Range Rover Discovery car belongs to the Judiciary.

Upon inquiries, Godwins Agutu said he runs Network Action Against Corruption (NAAC), an NGO.

He also pointed three other suspects; Houdouvia Njoroge, Harrison Ochar and Brian Kimemia.

He challenged the three are officers from KRA.

Detectives took the suspects to court on Wednesday, but Nairobi court granted detectives a day to finish the investigations.
