Star of the Sea Secondary School and Tononoka High School in Mombasa closed indefinitely following positive cases of COVID-19.


Reports show that some teachers and students test results turned positive, forcing management to shut down of the two institutions.


Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo refused to reveal the number of those who tested positive saying they are still waiting for the accumulation of all the test results.


Mombasa County is finding a challenge in administering with the increasing number of COVID-19 patients as hospitals are full.


“Kaunti ya Mombasa inakumbwa na wakati mgumu kuhudumia idadi kubwa ya wagonjwa wa corona waliofurika hospitalini na kupelekea uhaba wa vitanda na hasaa vya wagonjwa mahututi,” he said on Wednesday.


Commissioner Kitiyo had earlier cautioned Mombasa residents against violating COVID-19 measures saying that the recent trend is disturbing.
