Fake car dealers arrested in Mombasa for scamming millions of cash from people.

The syndicate is said to contain more than five people who fraudulently receive with a view of delivering a car.

A lawyer and two other suspects were last night arrested when DCI detectives broke a multi-million fraudulent online car dealers syndicate that purports to operate in Mombasa.

The lawyer, Moses Owino Angelo, and George Tsuma were arrested in Mombasa.

The third suspect, Charles Kipsang Koech alias Charles Brian Koech alias Ibrahim Merrali was arrested in Naivasha.

Two people filed a complaint at DCI Kasarani of having been swindled after making payments for vehicles they had seen posted on an online market place, jiji.co.ke.

Investigations have established that Charles Kipsang is the kingpin of the racket.

One buyer reported he was led to a car yard on Nairobi's Ngong road to view a Toyota Probox. After making the full payment, he was abducted and dumped in the city centre.

Another buyer paid a deposit through Mpesa for a Land Rover. The vehicle was never delivered.

We appeal to members of the public who may have fallen victim of the syndicate to report to DCI Kasarani for further police action.
