3,000 litres of chemically-made tomato sauce dubbed “SkyLight.”

Police officers in Nakuru have busted one suspect with 3,000 litres of chemically-made tomato sauce named “SkyLight.”

Officers conducted the raid on Thursday evening within a residential home. They found sauce in five-litre and three-litre containers packed ready for the market.

According to witnesses, the suspect in custody, his business partner who escaped have been in the business for years.

Footage from the raid shows the ‘sauce’ simmering in pans in the kitchen.

Police believe it is a scam that has been operating in Nakuru and its environs.

There were also several filthy high capacity tanks where the ready sauce stored before its transfer into the retail jars.

And although the contents of the solution are yet to be disclosed detectives handling the matter are concerned about its health implications.

Detectives recovered thousand of labels with a counterfeit Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) logo.

The labels which detectives believe to be printed in Nairobi mischievously listed several ingredients, ironically, fresh tomatoes were one of them.

The suspect is in custody awaiting arraignment in court as the chase for his accomplice intensifies.
