Mutaga villagers in Gichugu constituency, Kirinyaga County gathered at the home of a 65-year-old man on Wednesday to witness a one-of-its-kind in the area funeral.
The dead, Simon Muriithi is a famous tea farmer from the region told his family that he wished to be buried inside his bedroom.
Interested observers watched from a distance as family, friends and guests escorted the unusual send-off.
The location of his gravesite was inside a room allocated for his send-off.
Deacon Jackson Muchiri of AIPCA Church Kiandumu led the funeral service saying that in his 38 years of Ministry, it was his first time to see a Christian entombed inside a house.
“Normally, people are buried outside, this is a new one, I have not seen this in my 38 years of service,” Muchirii said.
