Linda Okumu, 24,  who stabbed a lawyer with a knife three times charged with attempted murder at Makadara law court.

Linda was on Tuesday arraigned before chief magistrate Heston Nyaga taking a plea.

The prosecutor told the court that at Umoja Inner core in Kamukunji sub-county, Nairobi, she willfully and unlawfully strived to cause the death of David Ochieng, 33, by hitting him three times.

According to a police report, Okumu, a student at the University of Eldoret, purportedly hit Ochieng while at his house after he received a text message from another woman.

The 33-year-old Nairobi based lawyer started bleeding and was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital by Linda and neighbours.

Mama Lucy Hospital referred him to Kenyatta National hospital as his condition looked severe.

Victor Robs and police constable Benson Lesu arrested Linda at the hospital. The officers stationed at the facility detained her as she allegedly tried to escape.

The Police took her to Buruburu police station, upon interrogation, she told the investigating officer corporal Julius Omwoyo that the incident transpired after the two had a dispute which intensified to a fight.

It is then that she saw Ochieng bleeding, Linda added that she could not remember which weapon she had used.

The officers then visited the scene of the crime and retrieved a kitchen knife with blood. There was a pool of blood in the kitchen.

The police officers locked her further for investigations.

Omwoyo told the court that P3 form filling awaits because the complainant was still in hospital in a critical condition.

She, however, pleaded not guilty and was freed on a bond of Sh300,000.

The case will continue on April 13, 2021.
