A body of a middle-aged man from Machakos was on Tuesday, November 10 recovered from a tank used to store treated drinking water.

The event occurred at the Machakos County Children Office located just a few meters from Machakos Police Station.

Stephen Manthi, office cleaner, saw houseflies thronging the upper opening of the tank, and upon using a ladder to access the tank top, he was horrified to see a body of a middle-aged man floating on the water without clothes in the swelled reservoir.

The man is yet to be identified. Police launched investigations on the matter.

The water stored in the tank is usually used for cooking and drinking purposes.

The dead person was removed from the tank and taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital morgue pending inquiries into his death.
