A senior police officer Inspector Wilson Kangongo, who is the in-charge Eregi police post was on Tuesday evening arrested by detectives assigned to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for asking for a bribe.


Inspector Wilson Kangongo was arrested at Eregi market after he was involved in asking Sh500 bribe.


Mr Kangongo asked for bribe from Jeremiah Gumbi to assist him to get justice, saying he would use the amount as fare to the Kakamega’s Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).


“The officer was arrested at Eregi market on an allegation that he had demanded Ksh.500/= for a fare to Kakamega ODPP”s office to get complaint file of housebreaking and stealing by one Jeremiah Gumbi (complainant),” a report by EACC read in part.


The EACC officials also recovered the Sh500 which he had already received and later reported the matter at Malaika Police Station in Kakamega county.
