MCAs allied to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko retreat to Kwale awaiting for others at the county assembly push for the impeachment bill.

64 MCAs out of 122 Nairobi MCAs are in Kwale county blocking the NMS allied MCAs from tabling and voting the impeachment bill at the county assembly.

The MCAs were to vote on an impeachment motion seeking to kick-out Governor Mike Sonko from office, this despite the court issuing an order blocking the process.

Governor Mike Sonko however, took his allied MCAs to Kwale denying the two-third voting rule.

Sonko impeachment took shape on Wednesday with strong lobbying in Nairobi.

Sonko MCAs are 64 who are in Kwale daring the 58 remaining to impeach the Governor.

Nairobi county assembly was surrounded by Police Officers allowing the remaining to vote in peace.

The remaining MCAs vowed to proceed with impeachment leaving the Governor at the mercy of the Senate. However, observers are watching how the voting will be by the fact that voting requires at least 82 MCAs.

On the other hand, the impeachment motion will not take off if the team in support of Sonko’s ouster fail to reach the threshold of the two-thirds majority in the house.

NMS allied MCAs say they have over 86 MCAs while Sonko insists he has 65 MCAs.

Showing his MCAs Mike Sonko funded a retreat to Kwale leaving 58 MCAs in Nairobi.

Sonko allied MCAs maintain that he is a victim of a witch-hunt over his tormented relationship with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services which he challenges of operating illegally.

Sonko is accused of abuse of office, gross misconduct as well as lack of capability to run county affairs.
