Sheryl Awino, 19, Form Three student boyfriend at Ugunja Police

Sheryl Awino, 19, Form Three student who purportedly attacked two police officers one of them her boyfriend, freed on free bond.

Sheryl Awino got her freedom after the two complainants,  her boyfriend Dennis Mugo and Solomon Kipchumba, failed to produce a P3 form that would have helped the investigating officer in the case.

The girl is a student at St. Peter’s Rambula Mixed Secondary School while Mugo and Kipchumba are attached to Ugunja Police Station in Siaya County.

“We could not go on with the case after we lacked the P3 form that could have assisted us in the case,” Ugunja police boss Mr Lazarus Tarus said.

Awino on Friday, December 25, stabbed the two officers with a piece of broken glass, injuring them in the process.

According to the police report, Awino first attacked her boyfriend who screamed for help provoking his colleague Solomon Kipchumba to run to his rescue.

However, the girl also quickly turned on Kipchumba.

Kipchumba recorded a statement at the station before being taken to Sagam Community Hospital in Luanda.

The cause of the fight between Awino and Mugo remains unclear.

Police said Awino and Mugo had broken into a long and sour physical fight resulted in the two breaking a glass table.

After breaking the glass table, Awino allegedly picked one of the broken pieces and cut Mugo with it in the head and his left arm.

When Kipchumba attempted to intervene, she used the same piece to cut him in the lower lip.
