Police officers in Nyamira County probe where eight robbers broke into a home, cooked ugali and meat before making way with valuable goods.


The armed robbers dressed in Jungle jackets, ambushed Stephen Gichana at his residence in Bomondo village as he was waiting for his son to open the gate.


“The robbers forced him and his son to open the gate after hitting him on the forehead with a blunt object,” a report filed at Nyamira Police Station read in part.


After the incident, the robbers gained entry to the house at about 8.00 PM they tied up Gichana, his wife Damaris Kemunto, 38, and his son Elias Gichana, 22.


The robbers then searched the house and stole valuable items which included two Samsung phones valued at Sh50,000, an Oppo phone valued at Sh20,000, and a laptop valued at Sh70,000.


The robbers went to the refrigerator, took some meat pieces. They moved to the kitchen to prepare it, with Ugali which they ate leisurely before leaving the home.


“The robbers stayed in the house for over two hours and thanked the victims for being very cooperative,” the police report said.
