Kalenjin elders refute the coronation of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Talai Community elders living in Kapsisiywa, Nandi County says the installation of Senator Moi was fraudulent.

Five clans have rejected the coronation of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi as a Kalenjin elder.

Talai Council of Elders Organizing Secretary Mzee Christopher Arap Agui says elders rejected the coronation of Gideon Moi.

The ceremony was conducted on Friday morning at the Senator’s Kabarak home.

He added that installation is only done at the sacred places, not in peoples' residences.

The move was conducted by former Councilor Christopher Arap Koiyoki and George Samoei, who are not among the respected elders but ‘brokers and cartels.’

According to Mzee Christopher Arap Agui, had the event been genuine Moi would have availed himself in Kapsisiywa for the coronation instead of inviting the elders to his home.

He insisted that the position of Kalenjin elder is currently held by Deputy President William Ruto.

The crack-of-dawn ceremony which took around three hours at Moi’s Kabarak home saw the senator get the communities’ instruments of power and the mandate to seek the country’s top job.
