Rongo law court sentenced a middle-aged man to five years imprisonment for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Evance Onyango,35, who appeared before Rongo Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat pleaded guilty to defilement.
The criminal has 14 days to appeal the judgment.
The prisoner committed the offence between January 10 and January 19 this year at Nyarombo village, Dede location, Awendo Sub County.
Police officers arrested him on January 19 and first surfaced in court on January 22.
According to a police report, seven witnesses were presented before the court.
The sentence comes amid attention from stakeholders of increasing cases of defilement in Awendo and Rongo sub-counties.
