Karen MCA David Mberia sentenced photo

Karen MCA David Mberia sentenced to three years jail term or pay a fine of Ksh.700,000 after found guilty of demanding and receiving a Ksh.1.7 million bribe to resolve a land dispute involving a private school.

The verdict was delivered out by Nairobi Chief Magistrate Thomas Nyioki who saw the Nairobi MCA guilty of the offence exceeding any doubts.

The county legislator and his co-accused MCAs, who were acquitted, were involved in asking and receiving the money from a private school owner, Maina Kiragu, to further resolve a land conflict.

While sentencing Mberia, the magistrate added that the charge of asking for a bribe which was declared in Sheng was determined through the testimony from investigating officer.

“The word was used in a clever way to request for a bribe of mita moja,” ruled Nyioki.

The court also recorded that Mberia was in contact with the treated money.
