Sheep by Jacqueline Inyuma, 45, from Matayo Village in Likuyani Constituency photo

Jacqueline Inyuma, 45, from Matayo Village in Likuyani Constituency, Kakamega County left her husband in confusion on Friday after she took his livestock and household items to pay her parents dowry.

Mrs Jacqueline Inyuma paused until her husband, Mr Silvanus Lihanda, 52, left for Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County for work, she took his pregnant cow, three sheep, sofa set, table, wall unit, three 90 kg bags of maize and other household items to her parents.

Mrs Jacqueline said she had to do it because her husband has “never taken anything to her parents as dowry despite being in 18-year marriage”.

The couple is endowed with a 16-year-old son.

However, Mr Lihanda, on the other hand, said he thinks his wife took his properties to “start life afresh elsewhere”.
