A Recce Squad and an elite GSU officer Kirimi Gikangu arrested after he purportedly stabbed his friend Allan Ng’ang’a Gicharu, whom he blamed for having a love affair with his wife.

The elite GSU officer had been posted to Boni Forest to secure the country against Al-Shabaab terrorists hiding in the forest.

The suspect is claimed to have killed his friend, Allan Ng’ang’a Gicharu, a gym instructor whom he alleged of having a secret affair with his (Gikangu’s) wife, DCI detectives stated.

The claimed killing happened on February 2, 2021, in KisauniDivision, Mombasa County.

Gikangu had called Gicharu to his Kisauni home for drinks. All the while, Gikangu suppressed bitterness over accusations that Gicharu was having a sexual relationship with his wife, police added.

“After hours of drinking alcohol, Gicharu became too stimulated to leave for his home. The suspect told Gicharu that he could spend the night on their couch. While Gicharu slept, Gikangu picked a metal bar and banged Gicharu on the head, " detectives said.

"The GSU elite officer, consequently, reached for a kitchen knife and stabbed Gicharu numerous times in different parts of his body, murdering the victim instantly,” DCI detectives added.

After killing his friend, Gikangu alongside his wife went into hiding, with police tracking Gikangu to the Kaleo area in Meru County. His spouse, however, remains at large, police said.

Following Gikangu’s arrest on Monday, March 15, the suspect was transported to Mombasa to stand murder charges.
