Former Presidential contestant in Tanzania Tundu Lissi accuses the Tanzanian Government of holding information and lying to the public over the death of President John Pombe Magufuli.
Tundu Lissu said, " His legacy within Tanzania is perhaps the worst autocrat that we've ever had. East African community has been on life support for the past 5 years because of him. His legacy is going to be one of 5 wasted years.
"My message to Tanzania is that this is an opportunity to open a new chapter, we need to build a country that respects the rule of law. This is a rare opportunity for us to step back from disaster and go back to sanity.
"The only thing that surprises me is that they continue to lie, even now that he is dead, his government continues to lie. Magufuli died of Coronavirus.
" I have received the news of President John Magufuli's passing without any surprise, to be honest, I had expected this all along from March 7th when I first tweeted about it.
"It is poetic justice, President Magufuli defied the world in the fight against corona, he defied science, he refused to take the basic precautions that people all over the world are being told to take in the fight against corona, " he said.
"There is no guarantee that I will have a safe space back home but the fight continues."
"On September 7, 2017, I was shot 16 times outside my official residence. I was shot two hours after President Magufuli had declared on national television that those who oppose his economic war didn't deserve to live."
"Yesterday I heard the vice president saying that the president took ill on the sixth of March, I was given information on the fourth of March that the president was seriously sick," he added.
