activist Edwin Mutemi Kiama photo arrested news

The state wants activist Edwin Mutemi Kiama held for 14 more days to conclude investigations against him.

Investigating Officer Patrick Kibowen, in an affidavit filed on Wednesday, said he is examining possible offences under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act No.5 of 2018.

Kiama was arrested over two posters advising the International Monetary Fund (IMF) against issuing more loans to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

The pursuit alluded to the mistrust that the suspect must have been in collusion with other persons who are still being tracked.

“If the orders sought are not granted, the respondent is likely to interfere with investigations and potential witnesses,” the court heard.

Detectives added that owing to the complexity and nature of the case, the 14 days will allow for a comprehensive and in-depth probe.

The ruling will be issued on Thursday.
