Ex-Taifa Leo sub-editor Dennis Geoffrey Mauya, alias Mauya Omauya, collapsed and died on Monday in Nairobi.

As reported from an autopsy report, Mauya died of cardiac arrest due to constrictive pericarditis.

It an uncommon disease that is caused by the inflammation of the sac-like membrane that surrounds the heart.

He passed away in the Donholm estate.


Constrictive pericarditis exhibits Covid-19-like symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, fatigue and chest pain.


The family reported that Mauya, 37, who received AstraZeneca jab two weeks ago, collapsed and died at around 1 pm on Monday outside Jawa Wines and Spirits shop, located just a few metres from Savannah Police Post.


Health officers seen dressed in personal protective equipment - speculating that the deceased could have died of the global virus arrived and disinfected the body before it was taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary.
