Turtles dying due to trawling.

Foreign boats alleged to have encroached on the coastline have destroyed the environment.

Fishermen from Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu counties are crying due to the disappearance of fish at their regions of fishing in the Indian ocean.


Kenya Wildlife service -Marine - says in the past two months, fish have been dying at abnormal rates along the coastline.


Already over 30 turtles have died over outlawed fishing in Lamu and Tana River in the past two months.

Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Fisheries Service in the Indian Ocean at Kipini, Tana River now wants the national government under fisheries to outlaw foreign boats or resolve the conflict.


Local fishermen also threatened to use force on evicting the foreign boats who use illegal means to destroy fish inhabitants such as trawling.


The fishermen asked the county governments of Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu to emulate what the Kwale county government is doing in marine wildlife conservation and social protection.
