US embassy official body was found hanging in his hotel room in Nairobi looking like to be a suicide.
Police and witnesses said the body was found in his room hours after he had missed reporting to work on Wednesday morning.
Onlookers stated that a belt was used in the suicidal mission.
The man was alone in the room near the Village Market.
“The body was found swinging near the room window. He appeared to have died long before security landed there,” said a police officer who was at the scene.
“We can authenticate the death of a US government employee. US Embassy Nairobi spreads its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased," a US Embassy Nairobi spokesperson stated.
The man assumed to substitute a colleague at the embassy but failed to show up.
Calls to his mobile phone were not being returned, forcing the embassy staff to go check on him.
Officials broke into the hotel room. A suicide note was found next to the bed.
It will be constrained to forensic analysis to verify if he was the author.
The body was transferred to the city mortuary as an investigation began to certain the incident.
