Caleb Onyango, 35, who allegedly stole underwear from a Nairobi mall was on Tuesday charged before a Milimani law court.

The man was arrested for stealing 36 pieces of underwear and other different goods worth Sh200,000 from Lilian Mwangi.

He purportedly assigned the offence on March 26 at Sasa mall at around 3 pm, along Moi Avenue in Nairobi.

The prosecutor told the court that Onyango also stole 48 pieces of lingerie, 36 pyjamas, 22 pieces of cotton robes and six pieces of silk robes.

He denied the charges before Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Nanzushi and asked for lenient bond terms. He stated that he is from a poor background.

The suspect was released on a cash bail of Sh50, 000 or a bond of Sh100, 000.

The case will be mentioned on June 4.
