Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has become ‘the best all-round midfielder in Europe’

Joe Cole said, "I played with Claude Makelele and I thought he was the best in that position until I saw N'Golo Kanté. He is Makelele plus extras."

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has developed into the ‘best all-round midfielder in Europe’ and believes he will be key for France at Euro 2020.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a phenomenal end to the season, winning the Man of the Match award in both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid as well as the showpiece in Porto against Manchester City.

Now fans around the world want Kante to win the golden award, Ballon d’Or.

Asked to name Les Bleus’ player to watch, Wenger told beIN SPORTS: ‘N’Golo Kante has added something to his game.

‘Before he won the ball and he made a good pass, he was an exceptional ball winner.

‘I say an exceptional ball-winner because he wins decisive balls without making a foul.

‘But he is now capable of running with the ball and making a good pass in the final third.

‘That’s why I am certain he is the best all-around midfielder in Europe at the moment.’
