Belgium and Portugal



With Belgium and Portugal meeting in the last 16 at Euro 2020 on Sunday, Belgium has a comprehensive form.



Both Belgium and Portugal are the top favourites to win this summer’s European Championship, but one of them will be leading the way home this weekend.


Along with Italy and the Netherlands, Belgium is one of only three teams that still boast a 100% record at Euro 2020.


Roberto Martinez’s men contended three consecutive successes during the group stage – seeing off Russia (3-0), Denmark (2-1) and Finland (2-0) to win six points obvious at the top of Group B.


Not only have the Red Devils scored 7 goals at the game so far, but they have also conceded just once.


 
Romelu Lukaku has been at the heart of the action. The Inter Milan striker has netted more goals at Euro 2020 and is firmly in the chase for the Golden Boot.


Belgium’s Group B sterile spread implies they head into the round of 16 on a 12-match unbeaten stripe in all competitions (10 wins, 2 draws).


It is also worth bringing up that Martinez’s side has only lost one of their last 26 games in all tournaments.


Portugal panned out qualifying for the knockout phase as one of the highest-ranked third-place teams.


Portugal began their crusade with an easy 3-0 win over Hungary before undergoing a 4-2 debacle at the hands of Germany.


Last time out, they brought out 2-2 with France, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring both of his country’s goals from the penalty spot.

Ronaldo now sits two goals apparent at the top of the Golden Boot leaderboard already with 5 goals.
