Bongo star Diamond Platinumz move to contest for the Best International Act prize in the forthcoming BET Awards thrown to dust with uncertainty.
Just a few days after his nomination, some Tanzanians are up in arms, and, in an online petition, have called on BET Awards to exclude him.
“Diamond Platnumz has failed to show basic concern and publicly express any solidarity with his fellow artists,” part of the petition read.
Despite the fight from other artists within the country, the Tanzanian government through one of the parliamentarians endorsed his nomination and asked Tanzanians to assist him.
“Tunaomba Diamond Platnumz asaidiwe kushinda tuzo anayogombea, in the name of the country,” MP Nusrat Hanje said.
Diamond will be contesting against other African artists including Nigeria’s BurnaBoy and Wizkid.
