Victor Rabuko allegedly assailed and injured his four-year-old step-son for bedwetting at Maili Mbili, Nyaribari Chache sub-county in Kisii County.
The suspect, a health records officer at a private hospital in Kisii and the stepfather of the victim, is said to have broken the child’s left arm after giving him a thorough beating.
Verifying the incident, Kisii County Police Commander, Francis Kooli, told the press in his office at Kisii town that the child is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kisii town.
“I can validate that we have detained the father and, and will be charged in court over that serious assault,” Kooli added.
Kooli also said that it was disturbing for a parent to beat a child for wetting the bed.
Kooli added that the event happened on Sunday, however, the child was taken to the hospital three days later.
He urged women to report fathers who assault their children to a police station because the lives of the children are more important.
The neighbours have declined to talk to the media for fear of threatening.
