Former Kamukunji MP George Gregory Wilson Nthenge dies at the age of 94 years.

As reported by his son Edward Musembi Nthenge, the veteran legislator died on Tuesday, August 10, at his home in Buruburu, Nairobi,  where he was recovering after being discharged from Nairobi Hospital.

The Politician was a member of LEGCO for the then larger Machakos District in 1960 and was among the leaders who attended the Lancaster House Conference in London before Kenya’s independence.

In the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, he was the Member of Parliament for Iveti South.

He served as Kamukunji MP between 1992 and 1997.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua explained that Nthenge succumbed to COVID-19.

“I am sad to learn of the passing of Hon. George Gregory Nthenge, at the age of 94, due to COVID complications. Former MP and Minister, Mzee Nthenge was a brilliant and visionary leader. He survived tragedy and celebrated life. He is one of the greatest leaders of Kenya. Rest in peace,” Mutua wrote on Twitter.
