Mariakani Hospital gets modern Paediatric, Maternity and Theatre blocks opened by Kilifi Governor Kingi

Governor Amason Kingi opening Mariakani Sub-County hospital new blocks.

Kilifi county governor Amason Kingi opens a modern maternity wing at Mariakani hospital. Kingi was accompanied by Kilifi County Speaker Jimmy Kahindi.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kingi said, " We are committing more resources to boost maternal healthcare across the County by enhancing health infrastructure and equipping them with modern machines for handling any maternal and paediatric complications.

The Governor opened over 100 beds capacity wards. The county boss opened a twin 64-bed paediatric ward and 45-bed maternity ward, with fully equipped theatres at the Mariakani Sub-County Hospital.

The move will bring to fruition the determination to take healthcare closer to Wananchi.

"Further, we have assigned a general surgeon, an orthopaedic and spinal surgeon, a paediatrician, a physician and two Obstetric/ gynaecologists, who will offer specialised treatment at the facility. 

"We are also upgrading Mariakani Hospital into an internship centre, which will see more personnel assigned to the facility that will fully serve the over 50,000 residents within its catchment area, thereby decongesting Kilifi County Referral Hospital and the Malindi Sub-County Hospital, " the Governor added.


Plans are also underway to commence construction of an Emergency and trauma centre, with a theatre, to deal with any emergencies along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.
