[PHOTOS] Kithi rescues hundreds of families facing starvation, calls for quick interventions -Bamba, Kilifi

After Kilifi and Kwale declared to be areas affected by drought this year at the coast region, several representatives have offered some emerging solutions. 

Ganze constituency has been hit hard by drought that resulted in full-blown hunger and water shortage catastrophe.

However, on Saturday 11th September 2021, Incoming Kilifi County Senator George Kithi presided over the distribution of foodstuffs across the Bamba ward.

The aspirant launched food distribution at  Goshi Area, Bamba Ward in Ganze Constituency. Other areas where the food drive transpired include; Bamba area, Ganze and Jila. The area has been hit by drought leaving hundreds of school children dropping out to search for water and food.

Through the George Kithi foundation, residents have benefitted from over 200 metric tonnes of foodstuffs.

"We appeal to everyone to assist families affected. From the public agencies and private entities, people are suffering. No essential commodities like water," the incoming Senator said.

" Leaders need to come up with long-lasting solutions. Agriculture is devolved. It's under the county. Local leadership needs to make it a priority to avert such situations in future," he added.

The popular lawyer urged that both public and private institutions or entities join hands in good faith and forge the way forward towards mitigation or effective measures to resilient hunger in Ganze Sub County and all other affected areas within Kilifi County's jurisdiction.
