The Director of Public Prosecutions closes the graft file against suspended FKF President Nick Mwendwa as further investigations continue.

The DPP had been given seven days to press charges against Nick but decided to close its file.

"We seek to close the file as our team proceeds with probing the case at our own pace before we prefer charges against him," said the DPP.

Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Wandia Nyamu approved the request by the DPP and ordered the matter closed.

DCI detectives arrested Mwendwa and arraigned him before resident magistrate Wandia Nyamu and sought to restrain him for 14 days to conclude investigations.

Charges pressed against him include; mismanagement of public funds disbursed and misuse of office.

The Government questioned suspicious withdrawals amounting to Sh29,502,302.  Others include money transfers of Sh8.5 million wired to private bank accounts and that of Mwendwa.

The Government added that he must be arrested not to interfere with investigations.

But Nyamu released Mwendwa on a Sh 4 million cash bail with an alternative bond of Sh7 million.
