Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala joins National Police Service after deliberations at Jongoo house.

National Police Service shared the news on social media pages on Friday. NPS posted that the 25-year-old sensational sprinter has taken up a new role that will see him represent the National Police Service in future track events.

According to the statement, Omanyala was briefed on his new role in the morning after a call from the Inspector General, Hillary Mutyambai at his Jogoo House office. He will serve as an Inspector.

Others accompanied on his induction were the Dean of Students University of Nairobi, Johnson Kinyua and the Student Union (UNSA) Head of Communication, Joshua Sirma.

Omanyala thanked National Police Service and the government for supporting talents.

'It is an honour to serve the National Police Service and I promise to give my best as an athlete. I also understand that there is life after sprinting," he said.

IG Mutyambai urged Omanyala to sustain his sporting discipline to achieve his full potential and deliver on his new role as a police athlete.
