Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped from the squad

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped as the team's captain for being in discipline, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.

The Gabon national will be out for the Wednesday's league game at home to West Ham United, the club added.

"We expect all our players, especially our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed," Arsenal said in a statement.

"We are fully focused on tomorrow's match."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta dropped Aubameyang before beating Southampton 3-0 at the weekend.

However, Athletic noted that Aubameyang was dropped after returning late from a trip abroad.

Alexandre Lacazette led the team against Southampton in Aubameyang's absence.
