Bees Attacking KRA officer in Mombasa photo

Kenya Revenue Authority official died on Saturday after being ambushed by a swam of bees after visiting a firm.

As indicated in the police report John Muthine Mutwiri who worked at the KRA investigation and enforcement office was with two others inside a car, when the bees wrecked.

The other people in the car were; Hezekiel Gikambi and Maurice Kinyua.

The event happened at Red brick area in Majengo, Mombasa.

"The bees entered the vehicle and they alighted to get safety outside. They all ran in different directions," the report filed under OB.NO.41/11/12/2021 said.


Mutwiri who was subdued by the bee stings fell at a nearby garage after managed to get out of the car and was rushed to the Coast Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The deceased's body was taken to the Coast general hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.


"Through the assistance of the garage owner one Mwaruwa Chikophe he managed to get a Tuk Tuk and rushed him to hospital."


Bee attacking is not a common phenomenon in Mombasa. However, the last case of bee attacking was in Mishomoroni in 2013.
