N'Golo Kante returns to Chelsea substitutes bench when welcoming Everton after three and a half weeks out injured in what is a huge boost for the Blues and Thomas Tuchel.

The top world midfielder got a knee injury in the 4-0 beating against Juventus in the Champions League last month and Tuchel originally stated he would only be out for "days" rather than weeks.

Konte missed for a lot longer than anticipated, with Chelsea suffering at the midfield.

For the Champions League battle with Zenit last week, Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic and Kante were all ruled out through injury.

Reece James had to deputise as an emergency central midfielder alongside Ross Barkley in Russia for the 3-3 draw.

"It needs to be a mix between pushing and also understanding that it takes confidence, belief and trust from the player that he is not in fear. Sometimes you have to accept it, even if you don’t like it.”

Not only Kante is expected back, but Trevoh Chalobah will also be back to the Chelsea bench on Thursday matchday squad after injury.

The match will be live on GOTV, beIn Sports and DSTV platforms.
