DCI arrests Meru Senator Mithika Linturi at Eka hotel in Eldoret photo

DCI arrests Meru Senator Mithika Linturi at Eka hotel in Eldoret allegedly incitements comments he made during a public rally held at Eldoret Sports Club on Saturday, January 8.

His arrest came amid the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) telling the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai to investigate the issue and forward the results to DPP’s office.

DPP said the statements could provoke feelings of hatred.

“My attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media platforms portraying Mithika Linturi allegedly addressing a crowd and stating that ‘watu wa Uasin Gishu musicheze na Kenya, na kile nawaomba ni kwamba madoadoa yale mulionayo hapa muweze kuondoa‘,” DPP wrote.

Linturi was also summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over the alleged instigation remarks.

The use of Madoadoa in his remarks was computed to be hateful and possible to influence unified living between the Kalenjins and other residents defiant to Section 13(1)(a) of the NCIC Act.
