Boigesa Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church congregants, Bobasi Constituency, Kisii County, were shocked on Saturday morning after their equipment was stolen.

Tom Mosoba, a church elder, told journalists that robbers smashed into the church on Wednesday night, cooked bananas, ate and stole utensils, a bag ful of maize, two speakers, a microphone and a guitar.

Mosoba added that the thieves forced one of them via a gap between a lintel and a roof to access the room as others used the hack saw to break the main door.

Area Chief Henry Mirera added that one suspect from the Kenyenya sub-county had been arrested.

The suspect is confined at Itumbe Police Station as the investigation intensifies.

“The suspect was seized at the location and has been given to criminal investigation officers to question him,” Mirera said.

“Churches have no guards. So the elders would be ferrying the equipment during church service days and return them to their homes,” he added.

The Chief told the residents to be alert and report aliens to clan elders to to Police.
