Migori County secretary Christopher Rusana is now under-siege after reports appeared that he deferred his political dreams for a gubernatorial seat after holding a fundraiser where he accumulated millions of shillings.

Those who contributed now want the politician to repay the money they had accumulated for him in the fundraise after quitting the political race.

Mr Rusana showed no interest to return the cash that made locals angry.

Rusana claims that he can not refund the money because none of the residents who donated to the fundraiser has come to him for a refund.

Rusana added that he was not in a place to return all the money saying he had used part of it in earlier campaigns before dropping out of the governor race.

The county secretary added that his focus is to offer consultancy services to other political aspirants.

“I will vigorously participate in ensuring the county does not slip into bad leadership,” Rusana said.

Residents claim that they heard about Rusana dropping his governor bid after failing to resign from the public office on February 9.

According to reports, instead of resigning, Rusana signed another contract with the county government for the next three years.

In May 2021, elders from the Suba community advocated for Rusana for the county’s top seat, a move that did not go well with some aspirants from the region.
