Kilifi County lawmakers have strongly opposed county Governor Amason Kingi's claim that he would support ODM leader Raila Odinga's election if the ODM party do not field candidates to run for office in Kilifi County.

Led by South Kilifi MP Ken Chonga, the leaders have said that if Governor Kingi wants anything in the Resolution, he should get it through the Jubilee party they signed a deal with him and not ODM while urging him to stop threatening.

" You signed a deal with Jubilee. Go to Jubilee and ask them not to field candidates in Kilifi. We are very strong than before.

" You have lost all incumbent legislators with your brother also thinking of coming to ODM.

" We are strong. Only those who do not understand you will have a rough time but for us in ODM, it's our time," Kilifi South Mp said.

" We cannot allow a step-party to go to the fifth Raila Odinga while we have the real party in the county? " he added.

Others who were present include Kaloleni MP Paul Katana, Rabai MP William Kamoti, Ganze Mp Teddy Mwambire, Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo, Kilifi Women rep. Gertrude Mbeyu among others.

PAA is only linked to sitting MP Michael Kingi while Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Kilifi North MP Owen Baya are associated with DP William Ruto's party, UDA.

Kingi also got a big blow after half of the MCA decamped and supported other parties after allegations that all were supporting PAA.

Kilifi gubernatorial ODM aspirants Jimmy Kahindi and Gideon Mung'aro rubbished Governor Kingi's statements saying he has lost focus.

Deputy ODM party leader Governor Hassan Joho seconded the statements from the Kilifi legislators adding that ODM will field candidates across the coastal region as discussed earlier in Mombasa.

Governor Joho added that in the last visit in Mombasa,  Rt Raila Odinga and ODM leadership at the coast discussed that issue among others and agreed that the 2017 ODM strongholds will have candidates.

The regions where ODM will have candidates include; Coast, Nyanza,  Western, some parts of Nairobi, North-Eastern and Rift Valley. Other areas were left to Jubilee to decide which include; Eastern, Central, some parts of Rift Valley, North Eastern and Nairobi.
