Bahati called to step down for mathare seat

After the Jubilee Party urged him to step aside for an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) contender in the Mathare parliamentary election, singer Bahati is furious.

Bahati is seen imploring President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to let him run in the election in a video that has gone viral.
Raila and Bahati pleading with Uhuru

"I am pleading with my President Uhuru Kenyatta and Baba Raila Odinga to allow a youth a chance to run for office."

"I understand Mathare has been designated as an ODM zone, but please give a young person from this nation an opportunity," Bahati is heard imploring.

He said that the people of Mathare had been suffering for a lot longer and that they were in desperate need of reform.

"I want to assure H.E. President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and Raila Odinga that I would not lie to them. Mathare's people have been suffering for a great many years. I didn't get into politics to get a career. "

"I already had one," said Bahati. "These Mathare residents want someone who knows their difficulties and is from the area," he continued.

Bahati had previously been given a Jubilee certificate, allowing him to run for the seat.

Anthony Oluoch of the ODM is the incumbent Mathare MP and a staunch supporter of Raila.

ODM and Jubilee wants to harmonize and have one Azimio candidate.
