Deputy President William Ruto praising the UDA party for its nomination

Deputy President William Ruto praised the UDA party and its machinery for properly conducting the election although it had only been in existence for a few months.

Political analysts also applauded the nomination polls saying IEBC must also copy and forget about internal pressure.

That is because the Deputy President's allies were taken down in the nomination exercise.

"I am a very proud UDA member. Despite the hurdles, we have proved today that a youthful party like UDA can produce credible, believable, democratic, free, and fair elections "DP Ruto stated.

In the August 9 elections, the Soy member of parliament and one of the vice president's closest associates sought the UDA party's ticket to run for the Uasin Gishu governor's seat.

Julius Bitok (Pakistan), politician and educator Jonathan Bii, former Nairobi CEC Vesca Kangogo, Ngenyilel MCA David Singoei, and businessman Solomon Kiptarbei were all vying for the ticket.

Provisional results suggested that Bii, alias Koti Moja, was leading his competitors in the fight for the UDA ticket at the time of publication.

Mwaura Isaac

The nominated senator intended to represent the Ruiru people in the National Assembly, but he was exposed to a pre-match in the contest for the UDA party ticket before the August 9 elections.

He switched from the ruling Jubilee Party to Ruto's side in late 2020 and has been a staunch supporter of the deputy president ever since.

Mwaura undertook house-to-house rallies in the run-up to the party primaries to drum up support for his umpteenth try for the Ruiru MP seat.

Simon Kingára Ng'ang'a, his main rival in the fight for the UDA ticket, is on the verge of clinching the ticket, according to provisional data.

Wilson Sossion

The former chairman of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) left the ODM party to run for the Bomet senate seat.

However, before the August 9 election, he had to overcome the UDA party primaries on April 14.

He studied the opponent, lawyer Hillary Sigei, for whom all signs pointed to a victory.

Sossion stated that police had impounded voting papers and ballot boxes at midnight on Thursday and that they were being taken to an unknown location.

Charles Keter

On the UDA party ticket, the former Energy and Devolution cabinet secretary was eyeing the Kericho governorship.
