A 29-year-old woman has been accused of insulting a senior police officer who warned her against using the presidential stairs at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) building, where she was allegedly attending a Church conference.

On March 31, 2022, Kincy Nangami Wafula, who appeared before the Milimani Law Courts, is accused of committing a felony.

"You are charged that on March 31, 2022, in a public place, namely the KICC building within Nairobi County, you used abusive words by calling Catherine Otieno, the KICC OCS, and Susan Misoi 'umbwa stupid, useless, and f*ck you with the intent to provoke a breach of peace," according to the charge sheet.

According to court documents, a woman working at a Nairobi firm was going for a restroom to relieve herself when she ran across a police officer on patrol on the building's second level.

According to the evidence, she was stopped by the officer and questioned about why she was using the presidential stairwell, which led to a confrontation.

"On a material day, the OCS of the KICC police station was on patrol when she discovered the accused person utilizing a stairway set out for the president."

She stopped her and warned her about it, but the accused got angry," according to the police report.

Later, the accused was apprehended. She pleaded not guilty and was freed on a Ksh20,000 bond.
