Agnes Kagure, a Nairobi governor contender and businesswoman, and Mike Sonko, a former Nairobi governor, have hinted at collaborating in their bid for the Nairobi governorship in the August 9 elections.

Kagure, running on a Jubilee Party ticket, claims that Governor Sonko has endorsed her candidacy, prompting speculation that she may be teaming up with the former Governor for the county's top job.

Sonko followed her to a series of rallies around the city on Sunday when she made the accusations.

"Thank you, Governor @MikeSonko, for endorsing and supporting my candidacy.

" Our people-centred alliance will accommodate all of your supporters, and together, we will improve the lives of all Nairobi citizens," she declared.

In February, the Sonko Rescue team backed Kagure's candidacy, claiming that she is the only leader capable of addressing the difficulties that Nairobi people face.

After Polycarp Igathe quit, the former Governor nominated Kagure among a list of prospective candidates to fill the deputy Governor role.

Kagure will face the incumbent Ann Kananu and city businessman Richard Ngatia for the Jubilee ticket.

Sonko moved to Wiper from Jubilee last month, marking his return to city politics.
