Real Madrid knocks out Chelsea in 5-4 aggregate goals

It's finished! In Madrid, Chelsea's run as European Champions comes to an end. Los Blancos advance to the semi-finals thanks to a headed goal by Karim Benzema in extra time.

Following a 3-1 setback at Stamford Bridge last week, the European champions were two goals behind, but Mason Mount's goal on 15 minutes gave the Blues the ideal start.

After halftime, Antonio Rudiger leveled the tie with a header at the back post, before Timo Werner's deflected finish startled the hosts and gave Chelsea the advantage on aggregate.

Five minutes later, replacement Rodrygo equalized for Real Madrid, forcing extra time, when Karim Benzema put his team ahead with his second headed goal of the match. Real Madrid will now continue to the semi-finals, where they will face Manchester City or Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea has been eliminated from the Champions League.
