Theft of 104 Million to house help Shelmith Kiprono now in court

Shelmith Kiprono, a housekeeper charged with stealing Ksh104 million from her employer in Lang'ata, Nairobi, has been convicted.

On Monday, May 30, the maid, also known as Jerop, was prosecuted in the Kibera Law Courts.

She has been in detention since her arrest in Eldoret last week. According to police, they were able to retrieve Ksh2.5 million from her.

The woman allegedly stole Ksh4 million, $806,000, and Ksh4 million in jewelry from Samar Al-Kindy's house according to the court.

The victim told the court that her life was threatened in her remarks through lawyer Danstan Omari.

She stated she had received death threats from unidentified individuals.

Samar now wants the court to overturn the conditions of Jerop's bond co-accused.

Omari put forward interests that the bond amount doesn't tally with the money his client lost.

Those facing theft charges include Caleb Rasto, Jackline Kinzi and Eunice Moi. Rasto alleges the two; Jackline and Eunice, are his wives.
